AV Delay
AV Delay allows operators to introduce a configurable delay to either the audio or video path independently, compensating for timing mismatches that arise from different processing latencies in the signal chain. This ensures lip-sync accuracy across the entire production workflow.

Broadcast engineering context
In professional broadcast chains, audio and video often travel through different processing stages — SDI embedders, frame synchronisers, hardware decoders, or software codecs — each introducing different amounts of latency. Without compensation, the encoded stream may arrive with a persistent lip-sync error. AV Delay corrects this at the encoder before the stream leaves the facility.
Typical sources of misalignment:
- Audio processing hardware with lower latency than video scalers
- Frame synchronisers introducing variable video delay
- Software decode paths with inconsistent processing times

UI Settings
Navigate to Settings → Encoder → Input → AV Delay. Available on all input types. Set a positive audio delay to postpone the audio relative to video, or a negative value to do the opposite. Both audio and video delay can be set independently in milliseconds.
Video
